13 ladies were playing today, great!
After the clinic, we played a funny game called “the golden ball “: each slot had been given a brand new ball (thank you Indrani !). This ball was played by each player at his turn : player A on the first hole, B on the second and C on the third, then, A again on the fourth hole…. The objective of the game was to keep the golden ball as long as possible, why not up to the end ?
Clinic of the day: Indrani wanted to answer a question we often ask : is the swing different between an iron shot and a wood shot?
Because the woods are longer than the irons, you have 2 differences :
- Your stance with the ball in the middle for the irons (up to the 5th), and the ball closer to the front foot with the woods (just inside the front foot for the driver)
- Your distance from the club, which is one hand for an iron, and one hand plus the thumb for the woods
Then, the swing is the same for both irons and woods
Rules of the day:
Because it was not clear enough , I want to come back on the hazard subject. All areas marked with red stakes are hazard. On our golf course, “all water bodies and drains are water hazard” (see score cards).
If your ball is lost in a hazard, you have three choices :
- considering the point of entry in the hazard you can drop a ball within a distance of 2 clubs lengths, not closer to the pin
- you can also drop as far behind as you want on a line between this point of entry and the pin
- you can chose to replay your shot, as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played
In any case, you count your first shot, one stroke penalty, and then the new shot.
Once again, if your ball is lost out of a hazard, you have no choice, go back and play your ball again…so the best solution is to hit a provisional ball.
Results of the day :
The team game was won by Sook Hyang, Nandini and Pascale who managed to finish 18 holes with their golden ball, each of them won one ball.

Change of handicaps
As I told you before, we are using a handicap tool which is a bit different from the club’s one. So far, we were using the clubs handicaps, but now some of us played enough games to have their Pebbles handicaps, here are the change :
- Nandini is still on 25 at the club but showed us how much she improved these last weeks her new handicap is 17
- Sook Hyang is now 15
- Heidi is now 33
- Meigan is now 33
