We had 5 ladies play 18 holes today and the game of the day was "Blind 9".

The results are:

1. Meigan 44 Stableford (S) points, 22 for Blind 9 (B9)

4. Indrani: 28 (S) and 14 (B9)

Results! September 6, 2011

We had 6 ladies play on Tuesday morning.  The results were: Heidi: 38 points Eun Young: 38 points Hyun Hee: 31 points Meigan: 30 points Sook Hyang: 30 points Joyce: 22 points This coming Tuesday, depending on the number of players, we will play either "Bingo-Bango-Bongo" or "Trouble or Not".   A few ladies are interested in playing only 9 holes and teeing off after the 18 hole group.  If you, or ANYONE you know would be interested in playing 9 holes only, please let me know!

Results! April 5, 2011

Today 6 ladies played a standard Stableford Tournament.  Veronique was the clear winner today.  She shot a 89 GROSS!!  Bravo!  The results are as follows:

The Rule/Tip of the day:
If your ball lies in a Hazard defined by red stakes, and it is playable, you MAY play the ball as it lies without a penalty stroke.  HOWEVER, you may NOT ground your club in the hazard (touch the ground with your club prior to hitting the ball).  Just a reminder: you may not ground your club in a bunker either.

Today we had 9 ladies play a standard Stableford format with 4 (yes 4) prizes for closest to the pin.  I'm very pleased to report that we had 4 different winners!

My tip of the day is regarding the maximum number of strokes allowed per hole.  This process is called Equitable Stroke Control and it is used to prevent inflating one's handicap when someone has a bad (or VERY bad) hole.  I found the chart shown below on http://www.pgaprofessional.com/handicap.html  It shows the maximum strokes accepted by the PGA.  Other Golf Associations use different maximums.  If you wish to do some research on your own, google "Equitable Stroke Control"

Equitable Stroke Control

Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) is the "capping" of individual hole scores to make handicaps more indicative of a player's scoring potential. The maximum score that a player can post on any hole is based on the player's Course Handicap. In the case of a player without an established handicap scores are adjusted using the maximum hole score for the highest Course Handicap. Once your Handicap Index is established you use the ESC table below.

up to 9	Double Bogey
10 through 19	7
20 through 29	8
30 through 39	9
40 or higher	10

So for us Pebbles, once you reach your maximum allowed score per hole, you can pick up your ball and write the maximum on your scorecard.  This saves time and frustration when we have bad holes :)

Pebbles Par 3s for Pascale - March 15, 2011

Thank you to everyone who played on Tuesday, we had 14 ladies play "Par 3s for Pascale". While Tuesday was not Pascale's last day playing with the Pebbles, it was the day we chose to celebrate her time with us.
 

The game Tuesday required us to transform all of the par 4s and par 5s on the course into par 3s.  We created new 'Tee boxes" (circles in sand) between the 100 and 150 yard marker on the par 4s and par 5s, and we teed off from there.  Unfortunately, the grounds crew moved our handmade flags which were supposed to locate the circles, and instead moved them all to the 150 marker...which made some very difficult and long par 3s.  In any case, it was a good way for us to work on our short game.  

As for the competition, we used 50% of handicaps to calculate a net score.

Pebbles results for March 8, 2011

One of my last messages, I am afraid, as I am starting to get ready for packing L

Anyway, we were 11 of us enjoying a new game we called “Staying alive”!

Each of us got a flag with our name before starting. Then we played a normal Stableford format, but we were allowed to a certain number of shots (72 + ¾ handicap, i.e. 72 + 27 = 99 for a 36 handicap).

After hitting our last shot, we had to put our own flag on the fairway where the shot had landed.

The winner was the one whose flag was closer to the restaurant!

We just noticed 2 things : As we have to count every single shot, it’s very long and then being 4 players in a lot made it very slow ( 5 hours for one group), so next time we should keep slots of 3.

Next time we want to make sure every flag is on the course, so better to take 2/3 of the handicap rather than 3/4 !
